About Counselling

There are many different reasons why a person might seek counselling. We all have times in life where we feel confused, distressed, overwhelmed or stuck. You might be experiencing symptoms of depression or low mood, managing anxiety or struggling with low self esteem or confidence.

Whatever the reason, talking to a skilled and empathic listener can help to reduce the weight of the pressure you might be carrying. It can give you insight into unhelpful thought or behaviour patterns and help to gain clarity over the cause of any distress. My belief is that when we know and understand ourselves, we are empowered to make informed choices about our lives; we can feel calmer and more peaceful thereby experiencing living in a more comfortable way.

We would normally arrange to meet weekly, for 50 minutes. My aim is to provide a therapeutic space in which you feel respected, cared about and supported. The work we do together is a collaborative effort, based upon mutual trust. Together, we will explore your life story and help you to understand yourself better by making sense of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours and help you to identify and communicate your needs.

More About Me

I have over six years experience working with adults over the age of 18 therapeutically.

In that time, I have worked with a wide range of difficulties with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. I have provided my services as a trainee counsellor to MTCIC and The Stephenson Centre in Ipswich and currently work from private practice with adults on a short or long term basis.

I hold an advanced diploma and bachelor of science in Integrative Counselling from Matrix college (accredited by Middlesex university) and am a registered member of the UKCP. Working from a relational integrative standpoint means I believe that all people are unique and are capable of change and growth. You can find more information about type integrative therapy I have trained in here.

I am passionate about counselling, in understanding myself and helping others to understand themselves. As such, I am committed to my continuous personal and professional development; undertaking additional learning and training regularly to update my skills and experience.

Some recent training I have undertaken includes:

Alongside this, I am currently training in a body based Psychotherapy called Pesso Boyden System Psychomotor; often run as group therapy this respectful therapeutic system uses unique processes to quickly identify and tend to emotional deficits.

What Next?

We would normally arrange to have a quick, free telephone call to introduce ourselves and make sure that you feel comfortable speaking to me. If you would prefer to communicate by email, that can also be arranged.

Our first meeting would give us the opportunity to meet face-to-face or through video call where we would talk a little about the process of counselling, what has brought you here and what you are looking to get from the experience. Working from a relational perspective means that I believe that finding the right counsellor for you is important to the work. With this in mind, I will offer you the opportunity to consider our time together without committing to further sessions. Choosing to proceed will be entirely up to you. You can find more information about an initial therapy session here

I have a safe and welcoming practice that celebrates individual difference and everyone is welcome. If there are any accommodations I can make to help you access counselling, please let me know.
